Highlights from my Spring gallery show inspired by a recent trip to Japan.

Bodhi Leaf brings truth
through the constant noise of life
Find that place inside

Japan welcomes us
So much wonder to digest
Cool chopstick cover

Circle forms contain us
Fabric stitching surrounds us
And sumi ink flows

Leaf patterns converse
With ancient Kanji words we
Interpret ourselves

Be still- underneath
Our poems of solitude
Grow roots, strong and deep

Symbolic Crests speak
Rhythmic harmony reacts
With renewed fragment

Nature’s palette strikes
Indigo and rust stain well
Happy lines visit

Accounting papers
Left behind, now carry carp
Adding pond ripples

Leaves embossed below
The path is there if you search
Stones lead the way

“Homage to Master Shin-do”
He sits on straw mat
Passing secret energy
restful indigo blue

Leaves express color
Remnants of time gone
The forbidden stitch

An ancient rock face
Exposes silvery light
Our time is but brief

Vermillion Torii
Offers an inspired climb
Shrine of one thousand

Flowing water runs
Along the shallow stream
lovely sounds pass by

Moon window rises
Across the ancient beliefs
of sacred bamboo

Spring shouts it’s name
Bird tracks reveal winding paths
Blue sky lifts our souls

Shadows on the beach
The close of another day
Review the time spent

[Geisha-based haiku in progress!]

Our patterned chaos
Finds order in random thoughts
Balance, Nature’s gift

Window half concealed
Soft voices heard from within
To red sun rising

Rise after darkness
Resolve conflict and sadness
Let them float away

River Rocks Scattered
Find passage across the stream

Sentry holds us safe
Disintegration through time
Yet leaves shine bright gold

Symbols so lovely
Of an intriguing culture
Influencing all

Sumi buds float high
Out of words on the page
To speak of the earth

The dark remnants
Remain with the patterns long
Lost silvery light

The philosopher
Sits at table, pensive one
Pondering his thoughts

The writing says what?
The shapes reply with silk stitch
The window obscured

Words Unreadable
“If you water, it will grow”
Patti’s truth be told
